High-kicking and jump-splitting is how you’ll find this young star making her mark in the entertainment industry. However, this classically trained dancer is by no means just a bag of tricks. Sahara Davenport is talent personified. It is her beauty, grace, comedic style, and charisma that bring audiences to their feet. Not to mention, Sahara has an energy that surpasses all, as Michael Musto of The Village Voice suggests, “we need to bottle her and pass it around.”
This Dallas native got her start while studying classical dance in college. Since then, she has graced stages worldwide. Sahara Davenport has been seen on television on A&E Network’s 15 Films about Madonna, Voom HD’s Magnificent Obsessions, and on ABC’s daytime soap One Life to Live. She was featured in the pilot of Judge Karen as an angry Beyoncé impersonator who sues the paparazzi. Sahara made her art film debut in award-winning artist Kalup Linzy‘s video-performance piece Melody Set Me Free, which was shown at the Whitney Museum of America Art. Sahara’s talents have also been highlighted in music videos “Girl Problems” by the group Girl Problems and “Gettin Over” by Billboard chart-topping artists David Guetta and Chris Willis. In February 2010, Sahara Davenport debuted as a contestant on the critically-acclaimed reality television show RuPaul’s Drag Race on the LOGO Network.
After capturing the hearts of Americans with her coming-of-age story and then wowing the country with her amazing performances, Sahara entered into the recording studio with DJ Gomi to create her debut single, “Pump with Me.” Ready to work, Sahara trades in her ballet shoes and dons her highest pair of stilettos and prepares to pump! In a time where the gay community is trying to garner equal rights and destroy sexism, Sahara’s anthem begs everyone to let go of their issues, come together, and have fun. Sahara’s velvety tone combined with famed remixer/producer, DJ Gomi‘s (Madonna, Janet Jackson, RuPaul, Beyoncé, etc) beats are a perfect match and lead everyone straight to the dance floor. This modern day Diana Ross definitely delivers, and her debut track, “Pump with Me” possesses all of the fierceness, fabulousness, and fun that anyone could desire in a pop song. Ms. Davenport manages to seduce the ears of her listeners while the track commands their bodies. This “drag star” is definitely onto something and will have the world a wide “pumping” and ready for a good time.
