“Watch out for hot new artist, Kelly King!” – Ryan Seacrest, E! News
“…it is time to crown the next King!” – Billboard Magazine
Welcome to the world of singer, songwriter and powerhouse performer Kelly King: a world where artists and musicians learn that they need to take the steering wheel by two hands and drive their own way to the top. Kelly King, who has carved her own path in music industry, has more than learned this difficult lesson. Kelly King defines the new independent model of the music business. She waits for no one and proves that a down-home Southern girl who always dreamed of making it can have exactly what it takes: talent, passion and fierce determination. These characteristics have recently garnered Kelly three Billboard hits, a national radio promo tour and performance slots with Michael Bolton and Babyface all just within the last year.
This is her story…
Kelly King, born in Atlanta, GA and raised in Nashville, TN, got a jumpstart on her career as a child prodigy at age 10. She has been performing professionally ever since. In Nashville, she was exposed to many talented writers, musicians and artists. At an early age, she was singing on children’s records and even had her own TV Show on Fox. As a teenager, Kelly sang back-up with greats The Reverend Al Green, Rocking Around the Christmas Tree’s Brenda Lee, country greats Vince Gill and Blackhawk, and Christian Artist Carmen. Kelly has also had the privilege of working with many other talents including Amy Grant, Al Green, Dolly Parton, Sylvester Stallone and Van Stevenson. Once Kelly decided to move to New York, during which time she performed in many Off-Broadway Shows and sang with the Duke Ellington Orchestra at the legendary venue Birdland, her career truly started taking shape.
In 2007 Kelly King confirmed her talent, combining her own Southern roots, a 5 1/2 octave vocal range and R& B /Pop in her debut album “Live The Dream.” The result embodied the core of what Kelly King is – pure soul. The album, released independently and recorded with Grammy Award Winning Producer Charlie Callelo and Zach Ziskin and Emmy Award Winning Team (JOJOHO & Sean Petersen), produced a Top 25 Billboard Pop Hit “I Don’t Wanna Sing That Song” on the Adult Contemporary Charts, which instantly placed Kelly on the map. Word of mouth and a promo radio tour across 23 states made this possible and led to opportunities such as opening for legendary artists including Kenny ‘ Babyface’ Edmonds and Michael Bolton. There, Kelly King, Southern gal and new independent artist, was listed alongside Enrique Iglesias and Faith Hill on the world’s most prestigious recording chart. As if this was not enough, Kelly followed up with a special Holiday song called “Dear Mr. Kringle, That Time of Year”, a song that also independently reached the Top 25 on the Billboard Charts.
Now is Kelly’s time to shine on her own terms and bring her success to a whole new level. Kelly, on her own, released her new EP, “ The Real Definition: Workin’ Girl Remixes”, which includes remixes for the dance clubs along with the two bonus tracks “ Alright” from the forthcoming full length album and the Billboard hit ballad “ I Don’t Wanna Sing That Song” from her debut album “ Live The Dream.” The Single “Workin’ Girl” soared to the top 20 Billboard dance charts. She’s still cranking out the hits!
